O-B-E-D-I-E-N-C-E-!

1 Peter 1:13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

One time, when I was younger I got permission to go over to a friends house, and my friend and I ended up going somewhere else. We did exactly what my dad and his dad told us not to do. His dad passed by where we were, and let's just say I ended up with swats and got grounded.

Students, disobeying God is sin. Romans 6:23 "says for the wages of sin is death", so disobeying God, or your parents, or someone responsible for you is sin, and you see where sin gets you.

The next part of 1 Peter 1:14 is "not conforming yourselves to the former lusts. Lust can be more than just one thing. Lust can be drinking, smoking, gossip, ect. But the scripture talks about not conforming to the former, so when you get saved, when you ask God to come into your heart, he doesn't want us to go back to our former cussing, our former sins.

The bible says "greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world." I believe in you guys, LIFEHOUSE, and I pray for ya'll and love ya'll.

Rebelling... against God

Let's face it; no one really likes being told what to do. You come home from a long day of school. You come home anxious to flop on the couch or behind the computer. Then your mom "has the nerve" to actually ask you to do something around the house, like taking out the trash. In those moments when you're tempted to reply, "NO DEVIL WOMAN!!!", you must remind yourself of a couple of things...

First, God commanded us to "honor our father and mother". It wasn't a suggestion or a request- it is a command. Second, when we rebel against leadership (including our parents, teachers, youth leaders, etc.), we are rebelling against God.

Romans 13:1 says, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
-In other words, everyone should obey and respect authority figures, b/c God himself placed those people in authority over you.

Some may say, "But Pastor Danny, what if my parents are being unfair? What if my teacher doesn't like me?"- Those aren't good excuses to disobey God's command about submitting to leadership. The only exception is if an authority figure asks you to do something illegal or immoral, like if your teacher asked you to rob a bank or your mom told you to smoke pot, or something crazy like that.

Students, God's command about submitting to leadership applies to LifeHouse as well. We've got volunteers that come every week to sow into your lives. Let's respect and obey them. Let's take Lifehouse to the next level!

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!

It's a proven fact that lying is bad for your health! When you lie you hurt the people around you, you lose friends and trust. No one truly get away with lying because technically God knows everything. Galatians 6.7 " Don't be mis-led: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants he will harvest."You can think your little plan will work...but it will all cave in eventually. Because we all know that once you tell one lie you have to tell one after the other to cover them all up...it doesn't last forever. Stretching the truth can become a habit...and a habit is best broken before its formed so don't start lying in the first place. Have you ever let a little white lie slip, and it would have been just as easy to tell the truth? But you lied anyways? Now isn’t that scary? And example of a white lie your friend is teasing you about “Ryan”…..she asks if you like him you say no but you do…….white lie. Or how about “half-truth”? Your mom asks where you’re going, you say the movies, and you are but you didn’t tell her that the movie was the “meeting place” to go to the party……..Lying hurts everybody….yourself, your family and friends, and God but apparently you don’t care because you continue to do it.

"Knock, Knock..." by Josh Johns

Life House DevoMatthew 7:7-87) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and the door will Be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to Him who knocks, the door will be opened. Basically, what I believe, Jesus is saying here in this passage is if you have a desire or some kind of need that you should go to God in prayer and ask because God’s word says you will receive. When Jesus says “seek and you will find” that means when you are looking for God you will find Him. God’s word says in James 4:8 “come near to God and he will come near to you.” Also “knock and the door will be opened to you” I believe this means, whatever you’re facing many different decisions you just need to pray and ask God what path is his will for you, because God opens and shuts doors for you when you’re in his will. I want to thank you for your time and encourage you to just seek God and his will for your life. Also be safe and have a great week see ya’ll at Lifehouse next Wednesday.
